Loved: The Lord's Prayer

The Lord’s Prayer was the first thing I ever intentionally memorized as a part of preparation for my first communion. I was so intimidated by the idea of memorization on a deadline that I never thought to think about what it meant. As we read Luke’s version of The Lord’s Prayer this month on July 25, I am pausing to wonder about what these ancient Holy words mean today.

“Loved: The Lord’s Prayer” by Sally Lloyd-Jones and Jago invites you to ponder the words you pray in language that is accessible for all ages. Jago’s illustrations keep my toddler pulling this book from his bookshelf to explore the pages without me. I especially enjoy reading it with a child who does not yet read because I can adapt the author’s words to better express my understanding of the original text as my own spiritual practice. With older children I invite their possible translations of The Lord’s Prayer.
